We Talk

We’ll arrange to talk, whether it be continued via email or over the phone. We can get to know each other a bit and you can tell me all about your project…

Tell me what gets you inspired; what you love about it; what you want to hear more of, less of; what are important or outstanding elements of your track; what you want focal points to be; any reference tracks you may have in mind; how long you have been listening to the rough; what you like about it or don’t like etc.

I get to work

In an ideal world, (and depending on the size of the song), I’ll take a day to do all the session prep and the majority of the mix.

I’ll take into consideration all of the notes we spoke about previously and use various tools and forms of processing to help shape, colour, control, exacerbate etc the points made and help make the song you hear in your head, a reality…

The following morning, I’ll have a listen through with fresh ears, make any notes to tweak, and finish off the song.

You hear the mix

This is where it starts to get exciting…

Once I am happy, I’ll either send you the song online, or invite you in to the studio to listen to the first mix. Hopefully, it’s better than good, we have smiles all round, and that level of excitement that gets you uncontrollably giggling like a little schoolgirl… (Wait a minute, is that just me…?)

Revisions

This is the part where, if there are any minor changes you wish to be made, I will make time to sit down, revisit the mix and get these slight adjustments done.

Master

Once the mix has been signed off, we get to mastering. We go ahead with the final touches, whether it be me doing it for you, or getting your song sent off to a dedicated mastering engineer.
